Fulfill Your Priorities
One of the main reasons for internal dissonance is a feeling that you are neglecting those things which are really important to you, those things that really matter. Quite frequently, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and enslave ourselves to deadlines - and neglect the people or things we care most about.
In order to Fulfill your Priorities, you need to impress upon your mind the need to not allow the clock to govern your decision making process. On Saturday or Sunday of every week, you need to examine those things which really matter to you. Look at each of your important interpersonal relationships, Look at each of your Values, Look at the personal growth Objectives for improving yourself. Then select from these things, seven important areas which you wish to cultivate and promote in the upcoming week.
Then schedule time during the upcoming week to do something which will provide attention to this area of importance and which will give attention and care to promoting that which you wish to accomplish in this area.
Because you have decided that these are important, you should plan on saying "no" to less important things. Everytime we say "Yes" to one thing we are also saying "no" to something else. If you are letting less important things eat up your time, you are saying "no" to what is important.
Now the astute reader might realize that this could degenerate into self-management (adhesive) instead of personal development(cohesive), so in a future posting we will discuss how to prevent this from occurring.
